The Allard Community League is extremely fortunate that MLC Land, a local residential real estate developer working in Allard, was generous enough to build an outdoor skating rink for the community and Blackmud Creek Community League was willing to maintain and run it until Winter 2023. It can take community leagues YEARS to fundraise enough money for a rink.
This rink features top-of-the-line construction materials, such as professional grade boards, floodlights, and a concrete playing surface base that makes flooding the rink much easier. In the past, we have also been able to use one of their trailers as a heated change facility.
Thank you MLC Land and Blackmud Creek Community League!
Four basketball nets were installed in the fall of 2018 at the Allard Rink to promote the rink being used as a multi-use facility around the year.

The rink is open! The lights will be on from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Please be considerate of everyone who would like ice time.
If you would like exclusive use of the rink, contact us about rentals!
Also, if you are interested in volunteering, please contact (780) 246-4905. This is a neighbourhood rink run by volunteers from the community. It requires a lot of manhours to accomplish, and we would greatly appreciate any help. Thank you very much to our fantastic group of volunteers!
Your membership, volunteering your time and abilities, or donations help keep the rink going. And as a reminder, storm ponds and creeks are never safe to skate or walk on.

After the recent warm up and rain we will need a day worth of -10 to start flooding again. Need 3 more nights of flooding to get a good base. If you are interested in helping out or have experience with outdoor rinks, please contact info@allardcommunityleague.ca or (780) 246-4905 to join our team. It takes a lot of volunteer hours to make ice!
We’ll let you know when the ice is ready. Until then please stay off until we have put down a solid base.

Great news! The rink will be ready for LIGHT skating (no hockey) starting Dec 1, 2024.
The lights will be on from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Please be considerate of everyone who would like ice time. We are repairing our nets, and they will be put out when that's done. Contact us about rentals!

Great news. With the colder temperatures flooding of the rink has begun. We need time and manpower to get a thick base for optimum skating conditions.
Please have a discussion with children/teenagers to stay clear of the rink & ice until we have it thick enough. An announcement will be made on the Allard Facebook pages as well as the community league when we have it thick enough.
Also, if you are interested in volunteering please reach out (780) 246-4905. This takes a large amount of manhours to accomplish. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rink Update: Thank you to Heritage Point and Chapelle for making our rink this year possible through your substantial donations! We have been fundraising for utility costs for the Allard Rink for the 2023/2024 season. We have raised ~$850 via a GoFundMe and applied for a $800 EPCORE grant. We are working on a land use agreement with the City of Edmonton. We have insurance, which was recently paid for. Steve Pittis and Ian Lewis will be making the ice and require a big team of volunteer support starting December 1st.

Many community members suggested a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the rink. Steve (steering committee chairperson) started one. Please contribute if you're able!

Hello Community,
We want to update everyone on our current situation with our outdoor rink this 2023/2024 season. Allard Community League is a newly incorporated society (September 2023), working with a modest grant from the City of Edmonton held in trust by EFCL. We will be able to hold a bank account and fundraise after our November AGM. We are actively working on an agreement outlining roles and responsibilities with the City of Edmonton and EFCL for this amenity. It costs between $12,000-$25,000 to run an outdoor rink. Despite our efforts this season, the Allard outdoor rink will not have ice. There will be no rink for public use. We acknowledge this will be a disappointment to many of our neighbours. We are working hard to be able to provide full amenities and rink in the 2024/2025 season. Please message us if you have any questions or are willing to help!
