Allard Rink

Allard Rink

The Allard Community League is extremely fortunate that MLC Land, a local residential real estate developer working in Allard, was generous enough to build an outdoor skating rink for the community and Blackmud Creek Community League was willing to maintain and run it until Winter 2023. It can take community leagues YEARS to fundraise enough money for a rink.

This rink features top-of-the-line construction materials, such as professional grade boards, floodlights, and a concrete playing surface base that makes flooding the rink much easier. In the past, we have also been able to use one of their trailers as a heated change facility.

Thank you MLC Land and Blackmud Creek Community League!

Basketball Nets

Four basketball nets were installed in the fall of 2018 at the Allard Rink to promote the rink being used as a multi-use facility around the year.

Updates

Rink Update: Thank you to Heritage Point and Chapelle for making our rink this year possible through your substantial donations! We have been fundraising for utility costs for the Allard Rink for the 2023/2024 season.  We have raised ~$850 via a GoFundMe and applied for a $800 EPCORE grant. We are working on a land use agreement with the City of Edmonton.  We have insurance, which was recently paid for. Steve Pittis and Ian Lewis will be making the ice and require a big team of volunteer support starting December 1st.

Many community members suggested a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the rink.  Steve (steering committee chairperson) started one.  Please contribute if you're able!

Hello Community,

We want to update everyone on our current situation with our outdoor rink this 2023/2024 season. Allard Community League is a newly incorporated society (September 2023), working with a modest grant from the City of Edmonton held in trust by EFCL.  We will be able to hold a bank account and fundraise after our November AGM. We are actively working on an agreement outlining roles and responsibilities with the City of Edmonton and EFCL for this amenity.  It costs between $12,000-$25,000 to run an outdoor rink.  Despite our efforts this season, the Allard outdoor rink will not have ice. There will be no rink for public use. We acknowledge this will be a disappointment to many of our neighbours. We are working hard to be able to provide full amenities and rink in the 2024/2025 season. Please message us if you have any questions or are willing to help!
